In Chinese mythology, the dragon symbolises good powers and is used as the main symbol of the emperor. The 5-clawed blue-green dragon symbolises the power of heaven and emperor, the sun, joy, fertility and wisdom. In China, it is associated with the element of water. It is considered a symbol of power, strength and good luck. Associated with the number 9, which is a highly favoured number in feng shui. The year of the Dragon is considered a very auspicious birth year. The blood of the dragon means deadly poison. The symbol of the dragon can be both benevolent and malevolent. In feng shui, the dragon is a powerful and benevolent element. It has a strong yang/man energy. The pearl or crystal between the dragon’s claws symbolizes wealth, power and abundance of opportunity. The dragon is one of the main creatures in feng shui – one of the four celestial beings and a traditional symbol of rulership. He is also a metaphor for a strong and powerful man, while the phoenix is a metaphor for an empress. The dragon is represented in the eastern corner of the house and on the left side, looking outwards from the inside. The dragon can be used to bring Qi energy into the house. It can be placed in the living room, dining room, home office, but not in lower energy rooms such as the garage, hallway and toilets. The dragon likes water, so if you live near a body of water, such as a river or the ocean, place it so that it faces the water through the window. The water should be clean and not piped, hosed or rinsed.
