Bamboo coral is the fossilised root of bamboo. It is found in the soil of dried up seas where, in ancient times, bamboo would grow. Due to the process of perishing and the effects of salt and iron, the bamboo turned into stone. Bamboo coral is an environmentally friendly alternative to blood coral, which is now a protected species.
Bamboo coral’s natural colour is yellowish white. To give it this beautiful red colour, it is dipped in or injected with a red dye. After dyeing, the bamboo coral beads are resin polished to give them their shine.
Bamboo coral is said to be a valuable aid for those suffering from anxiety or depression. In particular, it helps nervous people find calm. On a physical level, bamboo may help regulate blood flow, relieve haemmorrhoids and reduce varicose veins as well as menstrual cramps. It is also believed to stimulate digestion and help against constipation problems. It is also considered a sexual stimulator, especially for men.*
