Cross of the Moon

Medieval Spanish cross of the Moon (pattern from Museo del Pueblo Espanyol Madrid) with an enlarged hand in the bottom part. Sign of the moon turned towards Earth, is a careful observer who sees at night, provides protection for the asleep, for children against fever, epilepsy and nightmares. It also protects property against thieves. Particular arrangement of the hand, meaning “no way!”, has to empower the protective power against theft and will find their way back to the owner.
